Pine Hills Elementary School Principal Tia Corniel has announced her resignation to accept a position in another school district.

Corniel has served as the Pine Hills principal since October 2018. During her time at Pine Hills, she helped the school complete its journey to becoming a "Leader in Me Lighthouse School" in 2019. In 2022, she earned recognition from the Capital Area Principals and Supervisors Association as the region's Administrator of the Year for her curricular vision, innovation, and school, district and community involvment and leadership.

Corniel’s last day will be Oct. 10. The district will begin a search for her permanent replacment immediately, and we will keep you updated on that process.

During that time, veteran administrator David Amodeo will serve as acting principal at Pine Hills, joining Assistant Principal Allisen Brodie on our leadership team.

A longtime district administrator and teacher, Amodeo retired as principal from New Scotland Elementary School at the end of 2020. Before that, he was an assistant principal at William S. Hackett Middle School and the former North Albany Academy. He began his career as a teacher in our school district, and also is an Albany High School graduate.
