Shonyae Edmonds dominated inside with 15 points and 13 rebounds Thursday night to lead the Albany High School girls’ basketball team to a 46-34 win over Bethlehem in the Section 2 Class AA quarterfinals.
Cassidy Foley contributed nine points – all on 3-pointers – and Me’Challe Cancer added eight points and four assists. Edmonds (pictured) also had three assists as the third-seeded Falcons (15-6) won for the ninth time in their last 10 games.
Albany High advances to the semifinals next Thursday, March 3, at Hudson Valley Community College. The Falcons, ranked No. 24 in the state, will meet the winner of Thursday night’s quarterfinal between No. 2 Shaker and No. 7 Saratoga.
Shaker, currently ranked No 23 in the state, is the only team to beat Albany High during its current streak, a 56-45 decision Jan. 20.
