Postseason honors abound for winter student-athletes

Azera Gates and Shonyae Edmonds at the Section 2 All-Tournament awards ceremony.

Congratulations to Albany High School girls’ basketball standouts Shonyae Edmonds and Azera Gates on earning all-state recognition this week!

Edmonds, a senior who earned her second straight Section 2 Class AA Tournament MVP award in March, was named third-team All-State among Class AA teams by the New York State Sportswriters Association.

Gates, a sophomore who also earned Section 2 Class AA All-Tournament recognition for the second year in a row, was named 11th-team All-State. 

This recognition adds to a long list of postseason accolades for our winter student-athletes, including the following:
